Mostly compressing at the end of the signal chain with a WMD MSCL compressor. Sometimes I compress the signal going into Morphagene because of the horrible auto-leveling. More often than not, I’m using compression to tame highly resonant modules that can easily overwhelm quieter sounds. Some light compression at the end of chain does wonders at blending together different voices and sounds into a cohesive whole. I view it as live mastering , since I record live to tape. MSCL is fantastic—compact, stereo, simple to use. Even if you don’t want to use compression on a track, you can use it as a limiter. Not into sidechaining for the type of recordings I make, but MSCL can do that too.
